Who is Momentum Energy?

Momentum Energy Pty Ltd is an electricity retailer dedicated to giving businesses and households a better retail service and genuine savings.

We gained our retail licence in 2004 and our management team enjoys many years’ experience in retail electricity in Australia and overseas.

Does Momentum Energy supply natural gas?

At this time, we are an electricity retailer specialist. Should we offer gas supply in the future, you can be assured that we will be offering the same standard of service, loyalty and genuine savings that our electricity customers enjoy right now.

Will there be any change to my service?

No. It’s so simple to switch to Momentum Energy because the same company that currently reads your meter will continue to do so. So you can just relax and enjoy the savings!

Can I have an extension to pay my account?

We may, in certain circumstances, be able to give an extension to a customer to pay their account. We have a range of payment options, including instalment plans, as well as concessions and financial counsellors.

Please ensure, however, that you contact us WELL IN ADVANCE of payment date so that we can help you.

Why is my bill higher than I expected?

There are many reasons why your electricity bill could be higher than you expected. These can all impact on your electricity consumption or reading and add up to a higher bill than expected.

For example:

  • Did you entertain more at home during this period?
  • Have any additional people been residing with you or stayed over?
  • Have you purchased or used a new appliance or began operating an existing appliance for a longer period due to seasonal temperatures such as Heaters or Air Conditioning?
  • Are you comparing your current bill to a previous bill where a concession was included (for example, the Victorian Winter Energy Concession is only applicable for bills issued during the months of May - November).

Why does my GST not appear to be exactly 1/11th of the Amount Due?

GST is calculated at 10% of the total taxable charges on your bill. The Amount Due includes the GST & taxable charges, but may also include items that are not subject to GST, such as some concessions and bill credits that are applied after the GST is calculated. You will find these amounts detailed on the back of your bill.
